Property Description


Gill Creek PreserveGill Creek Preserve is located just outside the town of Lowndesville in Abbeville County, east of the Rocky River off Hwy 81. This property consists primarily of pine and hardwood forestland with minor frontage on Gill Creek. The property is home to a diverse array of wildlife including white-tailed deer, beaver, turkey, grey and red fox, bobcats, coyotes, hogs, and black bear. Located 1 mile north of the Little River - Savannah Focus Area, an area identified by Upstate Forever as an area that greatly contributes to water quality. The property contributes to the drinking water supply of Abbeville County from the Savannah River and Richard Russel Lake, the sole source utilized as drinking water. 

One acre of public access is provided adjacent to Old Rocky River Presbyterian Cemetery, which dates back to the 1700's. Access will be available from 7am until 7pm every day of the year. Notification of landowner is required. Contact Upstate Forever for more information.
