Old Santee CanalThe Old Santee Canal (OSC) property is situated on the Santee River with 1.9 miles of scenic river frontage. Its high bluffs overlook the Santee and provide stunning views both from the river and land side. In terms of historical sites, locks 1 and 2 of the Old Santee Canal as well as the canal itself are located on the property. Lock 1 is located adjacent to the Santee River, and lock 2 is in the interior of the property. Thomas Walter's gravesite is also located within the property. The OSC property is mostly forested with a mixture of native hardwood species as well as pine stands in various age classes. Approximately 211 acres of the property are classified as forested wetlands according to National Wetlands Inventory data. The property is accessible from SC Highway 45 and is situated within a corridor of protected properties along the Santee River
