Property Description

This is the first grant for the Conservation Bank from Abbeville County. This property is an inholding the Sumter National Forest. This tract is named for being a link in the chain relartive to the Long Cane Horse Trail, an immensely popular recreational horse, cycling and hiking trail. Acquisition of this tract gives the public access to previously inaccessible portions of the trail. This tract has 4000' along Long Cane Creek and 2000' along Mountain Creek. The Nature Conservancy was able to convince the current owner not to develop and with assistance from the Conservation Bank, funds were secured to preserve this property forever.
