Bell Buoy Tract

Property Description

The Bell Buoy Tract is a spectacular piece of land on Edisto Beach. It is deepwaterBell Buoy property along Big Bay Creek, in the heart of the ACE Basin. Protecting land along this creek is in accordance with the ACE Basin Land Protection and Enhancement Plan. Aside from its significance to the ACE Basin this piece of property is of the utmost importance to the Town of Edisto Beach. This property is the last vestige of a formerly strong local shrimping industry and protection ensures an ample sample of fresh seafood. Rather then being turned into private expensive condos, or a dock for a casino boat, the Bell Buoy land provides public access to deepwater along the creek. The owners of the property were willing to donate $ 1.5 million of the purchase price to the town to express their desire that this land remain open to the public. The South Carolina Conservation Bank's funding was of critical assistance to the Town of Edisto Beach in allowing them to purchase this special piece of land.
