Property Description
Acquisition of this parcel, which includes the historic Glendale Mill site and surrounding greenspace, will protect a vital section of Lawson's Fork Creek from impending development and add to SPACE's adjoining Glendale Shoals Preserve. Conserving this property will add hundreds of feet of buffer along the waterway, ensuring continued public access to trails, greenspace, and floatable creek. SPACE and the Spartanburg community will continue to use the property for important community and fundraising activities, and perpetual conservation of the tract will allow SPACE to give access to and promote the use of Lawson's Fork Creek within the Pacolet River Blueways system. Conserving the subject property is the next phase in SPACE's vision to create an expansive public preserve stretching north and west from Glendale along Lawson's Fork Creek through a vast, nearly 1000 acre untouched native forest along the planned Daniel Morgan Trail System ("the Dan") approaching Clifton, SC.
