Hazelwood Farm

 Property Description
Hazelwood Farm

This parcel of Hazelwood Farm is 184 acres located in Chester County, west of I-77 by Great Falls Hwy and Old Mill Road. The family is interested in putting a conservation easement on the property which is focused in agriculture and some silvaculture. The property is mainly pasture and a mix of pines and hardwoods with one small pond. The northern boundary of the property has spring fed Bull Creek that feeds into Rocky Creek. The property is mainly used for pasture and hay production. This parcel of land is important for many reasons and holds a lot of conservation value. The habitat is important to wildlife and helps protect the water quality in the Catawba Basin. There is a bald eagle nest on the property so is prime habitat for the endangered species. There are a couple buildings on the front couple acres, but the family does not plan on additional development. It provides large open space with scenic vistas in relatively natural condition. Protection of this property would not only help with wildlife and water quality but help protect against urban development moving toward that area. The family has tours of Hazelwood Farm and supports agritourism.
