Halfway Swamp Creek Tract comprises about 288 acres of forestland, with one mile of frontage on Halfway Swamp Creek, a tributary of the Saluda River, which forms the northwest boundary of Saluda County in the vicinity of Ninety Six. Conservation values include watershed protection (riparian, creek-bottom, and swamp forest), well-managed working forest (loblolly pine and other native species), wildlife habitat, rare species (including Oglethorpe Oak, and Savannah Lilliput). Protection of this tract adds to a growing complex of privately protected land which extends the ecological, esthetic, and historic benefits of Sumter National Forest and the Ninety Six National Historic Site
