Stumphouse Mountain Expansion

Property Description

StumphouseThe Stumphouse Mountain Expansion expands SCDNR's Stumphouse Mountain Heritage Preserve. Its size and connectivity to 46,000 acres of publicly protected land will enhance the forest and freshwater resilience of the area while almost tripling the size of the Preserve, a popular recreation destination in Oconee County makes this project a high priority for protection among Upstate conservation partners. The property harbors intact mixed hardwood and pine forests including Oak-Hickory forests, Pine-Oak forests and remnants of the unique Table Mountain Pine/Pitch Pine community. These forests provide habitat for game and non-game species.
