Property Description

The Baxley lands represents 979 acres of prime farmland in Marion County. This land has been put into an easement with matching funds from the USDA's Farm and Ranchland Protection Program. Together, these funds will ensure that the farming way of life will continue to exist in the area, despite developmental pressures from nearby Myrtle Beach. Many farms in this area were once Carolina Bays which have long since been drained, resulting in unusual systems of canals and crossdrains. The Conservation Bank was a key partner in helping to maintain this farming community’s way of life.
