Property Description
The Tall Pines property contains mountain bog habitats that potentially contain bog turtles, a federally threatened animal. This property contains almost a mile of frontage on the South Saluda River and over 8 miles of streams scatters over the 1,700 acres of forest. Two dams on the property breached decades ago and have since led to the formation of wetlands including a mountain bog. Alkaline glazed pottery, chert and arrowheads have been found on the property. Tall Pines contains a mix of forest types and ages across the property as well as agricultural fields that SCDNR anticipates using as game fields.
