Chauga Bluff

Property Description

Chauga Bluff contains an estimated 2.5 miles of direct frontage on the Chauga ChaugaRiver as well as at least nine tributaries to the Chauga River. This property includes headwaters that feed into Lake Hartwell, which provides drinking water to over 14 municipalities and over 190,000 people. There are also several small wetlands on the property and prime farmland soils. A historic cemetery is located on the site, with graves dating to the mid 1800s. While not extensively studied on this site, Native American activity in this general area and on sites such as Chauga Bluff is well documented.
