Property Description

This 310 acres of land was purchased for inclusion in the Battle of Camden National Historic Landmark.Camden Battleground The Battle of Camden was an important revolutionary war battle fought between General Cornwallis for the British and General Gates for the Americans. During a 2004 archeological research project conducted on the site, 200 battle artifacts in eight small plots were discovered. These 200 artifacts barely scratch the surface of the archeological potential of this site. There are also portions of the Great Wagon Road that ran from Philadelphia to Camden present on the site. Once restored, the remnants of this road will become an integral part of the Historic Landmark. This land also contains two streams encompassing swamp land the revolutionary armies described as impenetrable.
