Terry Andrews

Property Description

The Terry Andrews Tract contains approximately 1,539 acres and is located on SC Highway 402Terry Andrews in Berkeley County, SC. Of the 1,539 acres, 1,410 are upland pine/pine hardwood and 129 are in wetlands. Two kinds of wetlands were identified. The largest are drains associated with the West Branch of the Cooper River and contain a mix of pond pine, loblolly pine, and various species of hardwood. These larger areas are considered jurisdictional wetlands by the USACE. There are also a number of gum ponds that contain a black gum over story. These areas tend to hold more standing water for longer periods than the drains, but typically non-jurisdictional by the USACE. Many of these wetland areas drain onto the adjacent Mepkin Plantation and preserving the water quality of this tract would also reinforce and expand the protection that has already been secured along the West Branch of the Cooper River.
