H.C. Edens Tract

Property Description

This family farm, commonly known as Pine Hill, HC Edenshas been operated by the Edens family for generations and is currently farmed by Mr. Edens and his three sons. The farm is located in Dalzell, about 7 miles outside of Sumter. The 677.22 acres is primarily planted with corn, beans and peanuts. The home place on the property dates back to the 1700’s and is listed on The National Register of Historic Places. Before acquisition by the Conservation Bank, the property was at risk to development out of the military base in Sumter. The USDA's Farm and Ranch Land Protection Program allocated a grant for 50% of the value of the land. The Edens' allow groups of school children to visit the farm to see not only how a farm works, but also the undisturbed Carolina Bay which is present on the property.
