The Battle brother's property is 65.3 acres of prime farm land located in Nichols, South Carolina. A conservation easement was placed on the property to ensure the land's continuing use as farmland. This land is an active farm used for growing soybeans and tobacco. There is a substantial threat from encroaching development from Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand area residents who are moving westward in search of land. This farmland will be protected for generations to come. This was made possible by matching funds from the United States Department of Agriculture's Farm and Ranch Land Protection Program. The Robert Battle Tract is clustered with similar tracts of land also preserved to ensure a continuous farming community.
