Property Description

Hamilton Ridge has been described as the type of property the South Carolina Conservation Bank was designed to protect. Hamilton Ridge is exceptional in size and natural resources as well as location. With 8.5 miles of river frontage along the Savannah River, this tract of land will provide many opportunities for fishing and outdoor recreation. This tract also provides habitat for several threatened or endangered species such as robust redhorses, woodstorks and bald eagles, although no formal study of these species has been conducted. Opportunities for extensive longleaf pine restoration also exist on this property. Before acquisition, this tract of land was in eminent danger of development. Hamilton Ridge is within 30 miles of quickly expanding Hardeeville and within one hour of Savannah, Georgia. International Paper, the former owner, agreed to work with the various conservation groups to ensure the future of this magnificent piece of property would not be subdivided and paved over.
